CRM was the former Materials Bureau of the Ministry of Railways, which originated from Tanggu Department of Materials established in 1887.
In 1949, the Ministry of Railways established the Materials Bureau, which was renamed Materials Bureau of the Ministry of Railways in 1965.
In 1979, the Ministry of Railways implemented the enterprise reform to Materials Bureau, which was called China Railway Materials Commercial Corporate in public.
In 1987, China Railway Materials Commercial Corporate was registered with the approval of the State Council.
In 2004, approved by both the Ministry of Railways and SASAC, CRM was transferred to SASAC who was to perform the duty as an investor and became a state-owned company.
On September 20, 2010, the inaugural meeting of China Railway Materials Company Limited as well as the first general meeting of shareholders were held in Beijing, representing the completion of overall reorganization of China Railway Materials Commercial Corporate.
On August 4, 2014, with the approval of SASAC and State Administration of Industry and Business, China Railway Materials Commercial Corporate changed its name to China Railway Materials (Group) Corporation.
On October 24, 2017, SASAC approved the company’s reorganization plan, in which the name “China Railway Materials Group Corporation” was decided, and as an investor, SASAC was to fulfill the responsibilities on behalf of the State Council. On December 7, the company completed the alteration registration, changed its official name to China Railway Materials Group Corporation.
